Short Story Competition
As part of the Multicultural Week 23, the Faroese Libraries and The Faroese Writer’s Union (Rithøvundafelag Føroya) are launching a short story competition to celebrate and shed light on multiculturalism in the Faroe Islands. Everyone is welcome to participate!
Please submit a short story about the subject “Home”. The story has to be between 1000 and 1500 words. The story must be typed. You can write in one of these languages:
Faroese, English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, German, French, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Russian.
The award for the best short story is: kr. 10.000
In order to participate please submit your story to: fjolmentan@gmail.com before midnight on October 1st 2023. When you submit, remember to add your full name, email address, phone number and in which municipality you live. You are also welcome to write a little bit about yourself.
A panel of judges will decide the winner and may also translate submitted stories into Faroese or English. The panel also has the right to publish stories for up to a year after the deadline.
